Objectives
Start your day in French over coffee and conversation! Café Croissant Conversation is designed for A2+/B1 learners who already have some basic conversational skills and want to become more comfortable speaking French.
Each session is built around accessible current events and everyday topics from Canada, France, the Francophone world, and beyond. You will practise expressing your opinion, reacting to simple ideas, asking questions, sharing experiences, and developing your vocabulary in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Oral communication, listening comprehension, fluency, pronunciation, everyday and current-affairs vocabulary, expressing opinions, asking questions, and interacting more spontaneously in group conversations.
Course format
A relaxed and interactive conversation class based on short news items, images, videos, headlines, and other accessible authentic materials. Topics change regularly, so every session offers something new to discuss. The emphasis is on speaking, understanding, and building confidence rather than on formal grammar study.
And because good conversation is even better over breakfast, coffee or tea and a light snack such as a croissant, madeleine, or similar treat are included with every class.

The book selected for the Fall 2 session will be announced shortly. The course is open to both returning participants and new students.

TCF Preparation Workshops (In person)

12 hours over 4 weeks: four 3-hour workshops

Prepare for the TCF by becoming familiar with the format, instructions, task types, and expectations of each component of the exam. Each workshop focuses on one skill: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, written expression, or oral expression.

Participants will practise typical TCF activities, learn effective strategies, improve their time management, and better understand how their performance is assessed. The workshops are taught by accredited TCF examiners.

Stay connected with current events while developing your French. Café Presse is designed for B1+/B2 learners who want to improve their understanding of the news, expand their vocabulary, and become more confident discussing current topics in French.
Each session explores recent events from Canada, France, the Francophone world, and beyond. You will learn to identify key information, express and justify your opinion, compare different points of view, react to others, and discuss current issues with greater precision and nuance.
Skills developed
Oral communication, listening and reading comprehension, fluency, current-affairs vocabulary, argumentation, expressing and supporting opinions, reacting spontaneously, and understanding authentic French-language media.
Course format
An interactive course based on short articles, news reports, radio or video extracts, headlines, and other authentic media. Topics change regularly to reflect current events.
