Francophone Film Festival

In partnership with the Metro Cinema, the Francophone Film Festival is back this year! It is a captivating cinematic celebration for the Francophonie Month. 

From March 20 to 22, cinephiles and culture enthusiasts alike are invited to immerse themselves in a curated selection of 5 French and Francophone films from around the world. All films will be in French with English subtitles. From comedy to drama, classics to thriller, there's something for everyone!

The movies: 

• Friday March 20th, 6:45PM - Ma mère, Dieu et Sylvie Vartan, by Ken Scott (France/Canada, 2025 - 1h42) - drama 

Trailer - César Awards 2026: Nominated for Best Actress (Leïla Bekhti) and Best Production Design (Riton Dupire-Clément).

In 1963, Esther gives birth to Roland, the youngest child in a large family. Roland is born with a clubfoot that prevents him from standing. Against everyone’s advice, she promises her son that he will walk like the others and live a fabulous life. From that moment on, Esther will stop at nothing to keep that promise. Spanning decades of trials and life’s miracles, this film tells a true story, both funny and deeply moving, of an extraordinary destiny and the greatest love of all: a mother’s love for her child.

On the eve of his 29th birthday, Nino is blindsided by a devastating diagnosis. To complicate matters, Nino has once again lost his apartment keys, forcing him into a reflective walkabout of sorts that depends on the goodwill of intimates from his past.

• Saturday March 21st, 3:30PM - La Petite Denière, by Hafsia Herzi (France-Germany, 2025 - 1h46) - drama

Fatima, the youngest daughter in a family of Algerian immigrants, grows up in a suburb of Paris. Love and sexuality are taboo subjects for her. When she leaves her suburban high school to prepare for further studies, she begins to distance herself from her family. Fatima discovers new life plans, and her homosexuality. As she embarks on a new chapter, she remains deeply attached to her Muslim faith and her family.

• Sunday March 22nd, 3:30PM - Des Preuves d'Amour, by Alice Douard (France, 2025 - 1h37) - comedy, drama

Céline and Nadia are expecting their first child. While Nadia’s pregnancy is visible to everyone, Céline must confront a legal and social framework less progressive than she had imagined. Under the watchful eyes of her wife, her mother, and those around her, she struggles to find her place.

• Sunday March 22nd, 6:45PM - Intouchables, by Éric Toledano et Olivier Nakache (France, 2011 - 1h52) - comedy, drama

Philippe, a wealthy quadriplegic, hires Driss, an ex-convict, as his caregiver. Despite cultural and social differences, the two form a deep friendship that transforms their lives.
